The Stone and the Glory
God used words and pictures / images in the O.T. to present the
Messiah. Probably the most familiar one is the Passover Lamb. Yet
unknown to most is that another O.T. image (and Scripture references)
repeatedly present Jesus as the Stone. The Stone first occurs in
Genesis and is used repeatedly throughout the remainder of Scripture.
The Stone prophecies relate to Jesus' first advent and His return.
Jesus repeatedly quoted Stone references to Himself, especially
in the week of His crucifixion. The Stone prophecies all culminate
at His return, so much of this study points to the Second Coming.
If God the Holy Spirit saw fit to repeatedly put these Stone prophecies
in the Bible and have them repeatedly quoted in the N.T., and if
Jesus saw fit to teach concerning Himself using these same references,
we would do well to mark them.
